Probation for Boy Who Attempted Jail Delivery

Neal Bailey a 16 year old Cameron boy who tried to deliver from jail here last Saturday night was tried in court here Wednesday and placed on probation. Bailey will be under Allan Dodson supervision for four years and be 20 at sentence end. The district attorney urged leniency for this first offense due to the defendant's youth.

Two Milano Boys Sentenced to Reform School

Two Milano boys confessed to stealing gasoline, auto tires, and typewriters from the Milano school. B Lane and Luther Russell were sentenced to two years at the state reform school after a prior probation, with Lane boasting of a “big time” image. News arrives of Jesse L. Dorroh's death at his Groesbeck residence on Friday August 22. Dorroh was raised in Cameron, worked as a traveling salesman in Waco, later moved to Groesbeck. Survived by widow, a son, a daughter, and three sisters raised in Cameron. Sisters Mrs. James Bass and Mrs. A. T. Ray of Breckenridge and Ida Dorroh of Dallas.

A defense rally is planned at Maysfield Friday night August 29 featuring speaker E. A. Camp of Rockdale. Camp recently spoke to the Cameron Rotary Club on the USC. The event is sponsored by the county defense council, with rallies planned in every county community.

Tried in Auto Crash Case Found Not Guilty

Pearl Carpenter of Palestine was found not guilty in county court here Thursday in the death of Cleveland Buffington near Gause in February. The court verdict said the accident was unavoidable as Buffington, employed by Willard B. Smith store in Gause, was repairing a tire when struck by Carpenter’s car.

Doctor Newton Heads to Chicago for Advanced Surgery Course

Dr W R Newton Jr leaves Cameron for a three week stay in Chicago to take courses in surgery. In his absence Dr W M Avent will handle a portion of daily offices and access patient records, and will assist after hours. Newton recently completed a local clinic and regrets time away but pursues further medical study.

Probated Youths Arrested in Bigger Theft Case

Probated youths Luther Russell and Jd. B. Lane, both Milano teens aged 15 and 16, were arrested after a confession to thefts including gasoline from road tractors, two typewriters from Milano High School, and tires from a state road sweeper. Typewriters were recovered in Austin, tires found near Milano. both held after Monday and Thursday detentions.

Former Resident Thomas E. Newell Dies in Wichita Falls

Notice from Cameron relatives reports Thomas E. Newell a former Cameron resident died Sunday August 10 and was buried at Wichita Falls. He moved to Cameron in the early 1880s and married Lillian McGregor later living in Wichita Falls. Mrs Newell died about 18 months ago.

Cameron Boy Held for Trying Jail Delivery in Cameron

French Deputies Move to Form Underground Government

About 125 members of the French Chamber of Deputies reportedly revolted and organized a new government at Vichy in opposition to Marshal Petain's Nazi controlled regime. Underground communications were said to have been reinstated and information flows reopened to the public as opposition grows.
