In Act 3 scene 2 Antony defends Caesar’s memory to Romans, feigning grief while sowing doubt about Brutus and the conspirators. He invokes Caesar’s generosity and questions ambitious conduct, urging the crowd to mourn and seek justice.
A three year old Gatesville boy drowned Tuesday in a private pool northeast of the city. The death was ruled accidental by the county sheriff. The child was swimming with sisters who left to go indoors and found him later.
Lampasas trustees adopt a 2.5 million dollar budget for the 1976 77 school term with instructional services as the largest expense totaling 1 493 007. Thor ndale Chili Cook Off approaches August 29 plans include sponsorships and three contest categories. Music will be provided by Der Rhein Steins of Cameron.
The Friends of the Library announce an open house at Cameron Library on August 24 from 4 to 6 p.m. Officers elected include President Mrs. Perry Holder Vice President Mrs. Richard Bush Secretary Mrs. Rebecca Miles and Treasurer Mrs. Edison Fikes. A book sale runs 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Houston Street across from the Mall with donation pickup offered via Mrs. Fikes.
Cameron area chamber plans a Thursday evening program at City Park to honor Cameron school staff. The Yee band performs, new personnel are introduced, and drinks are provided by local bottlers.
Cameron area registration announces new student enrollment for grades 3 through 5 on August 17 and 18 at Ada Henderson principal office. Kindergarten and first grade new registrants should go on August 19 and 20 to Ben Milam office with birth certificate and up to date immunizations. Immunization records are required for all grade levels. Registration hours are 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Aluminum Company of America becomes the first to file a surface mining permit with the Railroad Commission under the Texas Surface Mining and Reclamation Act of 1975. The Rockdale lignite project cover 770 acres with a 12 foot seam and 360 MW plant, reclamation costs estimated at 691.50 per acre.
Temple Junior College will offer Czech Language and Cultural Heritage courses in Cameron with registration at the Ben Milam School cafeteria at 7 p.m. Tuesday Aug 17. All interested persons should attend the registration meeting. Calvin C. Chervenka is coordinator of Czech at TJC.
At the commissioners meeting County Tax Assessor-Collector Walter White said he cannot obtain oil well assessment data yet and will consult other counties. He cited Burleson County's $200,000 utility tax gain and a ten percent assessment increase as a model. White and Commissioner Caffey will visit Fairfield to study oil assessments.
