Milwaukee Woman Named Pilots International President-elect
Jean Larson of Roa's Inc in Milwaukee has been elected president-elect of Pilots International, an 18000 member group of professional women. The convention in Toronto had 2016 delegates. Larson will assume the presidency in New Orleans next year. She studied at the University of Wisconsin and in New York City before joining Milwaukee operations.

Rockdale Woman Killed As Bus Collision Injures Ten
A Rockdale station wagon driven by Bea trice Brahm in her early 50s was struck by a San Antonio bound Continental Trailways bus on East Cameron Avenue near Highway 79. Brahm died on arrival at Rockdale Medical Association. Ten others were injured. two bus passengers Manuela Rodriguez and Clifton Williams were in stable condition at Richards Memorial Hospital. Bus driver Bobby Armstead of Dallas and seven other passengers were treated and released for minor cuts. Police traced the crash to the westbound car skidding into the eastbound bus, the bus veering off the road and through a barbed wire fence.

The County Historical Museum Committee fixed October 9 for opening three rooms of the new county museum in the old county jail. Milam County Weekend Crash Injures Driver in Minerva
Milam County troopers logged eight weekend crashes with one injury. John Montalando of Rockdale broke an arm when his car overturned after a collision with Dudley McDaniel of Minerva on Highway 77 near Minerva. He was taken to Rockdale Hospital then Scott and White.

Thorndale Derailment Scrambles 30 Freight Cars
Missouri Pacific officials probe a major derailment in Thorndale about 5 p.m. Sunday that scattered roughly 30 Houston bound freight cars carrying crushed rock from New Braunfels. A nearby telephone line was struck, delaying service. brakeman Tony Ray Buzan was aboard. Initial theory a collapsed trellis bridge was ruled out as rails split before the bridge failed. Parts of the track are being removed for lab analysis in St. Louis, wreckage cleared, and junk sale planned for the cars.
