Six Milam County Men Start Preinduction Exam

Six Milam County men left Cameron on April 22 for preinduction physicals in Dallas. Named are Joe R Escalante Rogers Alfred E Marx Alfred A Keller Charlie R Martin Floyd D Kerr Porfirio H San Miguel. Leader Charlie R Martin of Milano returned Friday. May induction notices were mailed. four men will leave for induction on May 19.

O. J. Thomas High Gives Strictly American Thursday Night

The senior play Strictly American directed by Miss Lilian Johnston will be performed Thursday at 8 p.m. in the O. J. Thomas auditorium gymnasium. The cast includes Vera Green as Louella, Maggie Jean Williams as Bertha, Edward Hamilton played by Frederick Bradley, Judy by Gloris Williams, Dick by Henry Knight, with James Lee Green Bill Wilson Evera Canady Sybil Jennings Lois Brown Aunt Jean Fanny Mae House Mrs Schwartz and John Moore as Mrs Craig. The production emphasizes Americanism with humor romance and fun and the public is invited.

Funeral services held Saturday for Chester Baldwin

Funeral services for Chester Baldwin age 54 were held at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Chapel of Green Funeral Home with Rev. H. M. Bowley officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery. Baldwin died of a heart attack while working at the Mary Belle Batte farm. He had lived in Cameron recently after moving from Alice Texas where he worked in the oil fields. He is survived by his widow and one daughter Mrs Charles Van Pelt of Monterey California.

Regional DAV officers named at Temple convention

Mrs W Obermiller of Cameron and Doyle Grayson of Temple were elected Regional Auxiliary and DAV commanders at the Temple convention held April 10 11. Other officers elected include Mrs Mary Jo Maddox treasurer and Region III leaders Walter Obermiller and Verna Hamblin. The group announced forthcoming oath ceremonies in Austin in June with various officials in attendance.

County Diseases Decline in Milam County Health Reports

Milam County Health Unit records show a general drop in diseases for the week ending Friday April 16. Measles fell to seven, strept throat to sixteen cases, with pneumonia rising to two. Chickenpox totaled three and mumps one.

Bloodmobile Dates Set for Cameron and Rockdale

Richard Moseley announces the Bloodmobile will visit Cameron on Thursday June 10 and Rockdale on Friday June 11. The May visit was cancelled to avoid conflicting with the X Rays scheduled for late May. TRADE IN CAMERON.

State Highway Commission Takes Action on Farm to Market Roads

In Austin, Highway Commission Chairman E H Thornton Jr urged closing gaps in the farm to market system. He criticized county commissioners for voting road funds by political areas and warned the board may close gaps themselves if cooperation fails. Milam and Kaufman counties were cited in testimony.

Final filing date for July primary candidates set

The Cameron Herald notes a final date of Monday May 3 1954 for filing to place names on the official ballot. Applications are available from Democratic executive committee chairman Max McClaren or at the Cameron Herald in Cameron Texas.
