Cameron Churches Fill To Capacity On Easter Sunday
Cameron Christians flocked to local churches for Easter services across denominations. Methodists reported about 240 attendees for Magers sermon “Opening The Closed Doors” with 275 at an afternoon cantata by the Cherubs and children's choir. Catholics at Saint Monica ranged 1,200 to 1,500 for three masses with 287, 213, and 23 receiving Holy Communion. Baptists at First Baptist drew 542 in Easter services for Rev. Russell's “He Is Risen” while Sunrise services at Mary Harden Baylor College attracted about 70 youths and adults. First Christian heard Rev. Harsh Brown on “Why Seek Ye the Living Among the Dead.” Cameron Gospel Tabernacle had 80 Easter worshippers with evening services.

Alcoa schedules a two day open house at the Rockdale Works with Family Day on April 24 and public tours on April 25. Expected 10 000 visitors and a dedication ceremony features Governor Allan Shivers and company and utility leaders. About 45 Cameron firefighters are set to join 800 to 1,000 delegates from 44 Central Texas departments for the 35th Annual Firemen's Convention in Thorndale on Sunday May 2 1954.
