Caldwell traffic death marks first Burleson County fatal 1975
A Caldwell man died in a head on collision on SH 21 near Caldwell early Monday, becoming Burleson County’s first fatality of 1975. John Worthington lost control of his pickup and hit a lumber-filled Freightliner. the other driver was uninjured. HEARNE C J Kelly buys controlling stake in Planters and Merchants Bank of Hearne. He is brother of Jack Kelly, formerly Hearne bank chair who was murdered years ago.

A Somerville man died when his car parked on tracks was struck by a Santa Fe freight train last Monday night. The vehicle became lodged about 16 feet from the crossing and the impact pushed it roughly half a mile along the rails.

Cameron earned the Governor's Community Achievement Award for 1974 in the 5,000 to 10,000 population category. Bar bra Smitherman said the award honors development and beautification for a one year period and will be presented by Governor Dolph Briscoe in Fort Worth in June.
