Absentee Voting Opens at Milam Courthouse for Primaries
Absentee voting began Monday at the Milam County Courthouse for the May 5 Democratic and Republican primaries. Absentee ballots are available at the County Clerk’s office with a Tuesday deadline. Reduction Set For Telephone Rates In Texas
Reduction in long distance rates within Texas will save users more than 2.5 million dollars a year and take effect May 20. C. L. Carson of Southwestern Bell Telephone Company announced in Cameron. The cuts apply to station to station and person to person calls over 198 miles, affecting about 17 million calls annually. The 5 to 15 cent reductions exclude interstate calls and short intrastate distances. The move stems from FCC and NADUC Bell System charges agreement.

Five year old Ann Morgan of Holland died from injuries after being struck by a car while crossing SH 36 near the Rogers City limits Friday. The accident near 4:45 p.m. involved a Buick driven by Hal Senkel of Buckholts as her family debarked from a bus. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Rogers.
