Museum Expert To Meet With Commissioners

A state museum consultant will meet Milam County commissioners after their regular meeting at 10 a.m. Thursday. County Judge O B Harden said he invited the county historical survey committee to join, to hear an opinion on whether the old county jail could house a county museum.

Yoe High Students Win Regional Science Awards

Twenty seven Yoe High students showcased science fair projects at the Central Texas Regional Science Fair on Baylor campus April 8 and 9. They earned 17 awards including cash, certificates, lamps, and honors from the Dental Society Army Air Force National Park Service and others for projects on dental care stream pollution solar energy and cockroach learning retention.

Freak Traffic Mishap Injures Men Near Rockdale

Two Rockdale area men were treated in a Temple hospital after a freak traffic accident near Rockdale Friday night. A third man suffered chest injuries. they were taken to Richards Hospital in Rockdale and later to Scott and White Hospital in Temple.

Public invited to hear impact of lignite mines

Shell Oil Co officials will discuss planned lignite strip mining in Milam County at a public meeting Tuesday April 20 at 9 30 a m in Cameron Methodist Hall. The session includes a Q A and follows a prior visit in November by Keith Doig.

Gause Aims for District 10 Improvement Judging Tour

The Gause community will be judged on Wednesday April 28 at 2 p.m. as part of District 10 Improvement Judging Tour. Faulty Wiring Blamed for Weekend Fires

Four calls answered by firemen over the weekend due to faulty attic wiring. A house at 902 N Emancipation suffered attic fire damage, owned by Emanuel Thomas. Another attic blaze struck the Lee Young residence at the end of 12 Street, with water and smoke damage. A tractor at Maysfield and a dryer fire at Brown's Laundry also occurred on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
