Mrs M L Russell entertained her Sunday School class and their wives at her home on Tuesday night April 3 with 42 games and treats. Guests included Mrs J K Howard and Mrs Porter. A I T A meeting met April 5 planning an event for April 20. Mrs Evans of Beaumont and Allen Warner relatives visited Houston and Caldwell from time to time.
The Civic League met at the Methodist church Friday night in poor weather with few members. Plans were made to launch a mosquito campaign and Mr. Davis was appointed to post notices urging owners of open cisterns or wells to treat them to prevent breeding and hatching of the pest.
The Methodist pastor Rev House filled his regular appointment as weather kept B Y P U from meeting. A large B Y P U party Friday night at the school house featured a picnic supper with guests from Calvert and Maysfield. Trustees O A Tyson H V Harlan and A J Smith were re-elected at the school house election. Various locals visited, traveled, or were listed including Miss Kathryn Harlan sick with mumps and other residents attending events and visiting relatives in nearby towns.
Mrs J C Tucker entertained the 42 Club and guests at her Hefley Heights home last Thursday with Easter themed decor and refreshments. Roses and pastel table favors included baskets of green and white Easter eggs and homemade candies. a chicken and rabbit sat atop each.
James James Watson, Roy Baskin, S. M. Burns and Joe Denson attended a party featuring a cottage cheese salad shaped as a chicken on lettuce, white eggs, pear salad, cheese straws, crackers and tea. Hostess assisted by Mrs. Roy Law and Mrs. Roy Baskin.
