F W Vogelsang and Mrs Dana Monroe won seats on the Cameron school board in a three candidate race led by Vogelsang at Yee High with 358 votes and Monroe with 332. Dr George Bowman received 192 votes. Installation set for 7:30 pm Thursday.

Culbreath Wins Throw Out Tourney At Cameron Club
Norma Culbreath of Hearne posted the low score to win Cameron Women's Golf Association throw-out event on Tuesday. Peggy Smith of Rosebud placed second and Harvey Jacket finished third. twelve members and four guests joined lunch after play. Weather notes signal drying window amid weekend rain risk
A recent forecast shows a chance to dry for planting this week with more possible rain and mild temperatures expected over the weekend. City Hall reported 21 inch rainfall on April 3 and total rainfall for the year through today stands at about 9.2 inches.

Cancer Drive Set For Saturday Here
About 20 members of the Strikes Fan Club from Yee High School will lead a four hour membership drive for the Milam County chapter of the American Cancer Society. Ten Cameron junior and senior students join, led by Nancy Buchanan with captains Glenda Sue Gresham Annette Mees and Pat Nesbit. They travel Cameron from 11 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday to distribute materials and seek donations toward cancer research and public education.

New Councilmen To Take Oath Tuesday Night
Two new councilmen Hayden Lawrence and Richard Mosely will be sworn in Tuesday night joining incumbent Lincoln Mondrik who was re elected. Lawrence defeated Clifford Thompson 403 to 226 for Place 4 while Mosely won Place 3 and Mondrik kept Place 5 with 417 votes. Mayor Weems asked for a 2300 plus settlement for land needed to lay a sewer line on East First Street with one third of the cost per foot offered for the adjacent Batle property. The council will continue discussion after questions on property rights in the 376 foot strip raised during a Saturday session. a two thirds vote is required. Mondrik was absent. Weems said he would follow the council decision on the property value. Some of the property has long been used as a street, though Weems says it was never dedicated to public use and believes it is his.

Easter Holiday Set April 19 22 For City Pupils

Cameron public school students will take Easter vacation Friday April 19 and Monday April 22, with classes resuming Tuesday April 23. Yee Day in memory of the Yee donors is May 9 at Yoe Stadium. RC Bloodmobile Set to Gather Donors Next Wednesday
The American Red Cross bloodmobile will collect blood from Cameron donors noon to 6 p.m. April 17 in the basement of First Presbyterian Church Carleton. A 70 pint quota is sought. Donors 18 to 60 may participate with parental consent for under 21. Houston Driver Survives Rolling Truck Crash
Grady Tillman, 37, of Houston, escaped a fatal truck rollover on Temple Highway near Petti bone farm early Wednesday. The single vehicle jackknifed after he woke from sleep, trapping him for about 45 minutes. He suffered a bruised leg, fractured ribs, and cuts, and was treated at St Edwards Hospital. Highway Patrolman Jack Straley investigated.

Literary Titlists Set For Regional 24 YHS Winners To Compete
Twenty four Yee High School interscholastic winners in district competition will vie for regional honors Saturday at Stephenville. Ten YHS literary winners last weekend in Stephenville gathered more firsts than any other contestant in the district and trail leader Killeen by 31 percent points for the title. Cameron entries will carry VHS regional hopes in typing extemporaneous speaking and poetry reading.

Buckholts Moves To Open Bids For Water Well Project
Buckholts Water Board prepared to set bid dates for a new water well and final construction plans after a 16 month effort led by Frank Toma s ik and a four member board. A $138000 bond issue was approved in December to replace cisterns and water-hauling. The test well, completed March 28, yielded 280 gallons per minute from Trinity sand at 3448 feet. The project is under Milam County Water Control District No 1. Buckholts residents have long hauled water from cisterns and paid about $4 per 1000 gallons, with water now tested and bonds being sold.
