Charles Lewis Kilgore News Herald editor requested pictures of the Killgore High School string orchestra. The 30 piece group will play at Yee High School Friday and public publication is planned.
A former city editor with San Francisco and Grand Prairie ties promotes Cameron student orchestra. He notes two prior Dallas Symphony appearances and aims to place the ensemble between Central Texas Symphony showcases. He expresses personal love for symphonic music and laments social intolerance.
Buckholts residents voted 93 to 13 to incorporate as a city and chose Richard Crowe as mayor with A. W Zajicek Jr. and W. L. Williams as councilmen. Crowe outlined early priorities including a sewer, fire department upgrades, street paving, and council government funded without initial taxes.
Rogers Exes Homecoming Association outlines plans for the 15th biennial event set for Saturday April 26. President Bob Green confirms ongoing preparations.
Rogers events mark a Bicentennial Community recognition in downtown Rogers with a 11 a.m. ceremony in front of city hall. Earlier regional science fair honors include Melissa Delany and Karen Richardson among others, plus special U.S. Army, Air Force, Kodak and Baylor awards. Parade and festivities run 2 p.m. with floats, queen, barbecue, meetings, and prize ceremonies at the school.
The Gause Community will be visited by the District 10 Community Improvement judging team on Monday April 14 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The judging will determine district winners after a tour ending April 17 and is part of a program sponsored by utility companies in Texas and run by the Texas Agricultural Extension Service at Texas A&M University. The text also notes Alcoa Foundation grants totaling over 200000 to area hospitals including 112000 and 12 acres to Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale and 25000 to St Edwards in Cameron and 20000 to John’s Memorial in Taylor as part of a 10-year expansion effort.
Cameron Buckholts Milan Rockdale Rogers Lott Rosebud and Rosebud Lott held elections for school boards and city posts. Incumbents re elected included Hornung Walzel Hayman Lesikar Williams Wolf and Holm. New faces joined boards in several towns with votes ranging from 14 to 188 across diverse races.
St. Edward Hospital Rischar Memorial installed over 12000 dollars of cardiac monitoring equipment on April 1. The Ladies Auxiliary donated 3500 dollars to fund the unit for patients with heart attacks and other heart diseases with 24 hour monitoring and certified cardiovascular nursing staff. In addition Ben Milam students will perform the Spirit of 76 on April 15 for the public.
Incumbent Gene Lumpkin and James Kahler advance to a runoff for the city council after a 200-200 tie in April. Polls open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at City Hall. Mrs. Leo Fuchs chairs the Folk Fete Parade Committee and invites entries for the parade.
