Funeral services for Dr Claude I Quinn 49 were held at his parents home in Cutler with burial at Ball Hill cemetery. Born January 25 1884 he lived in Carroll County Indiana studied at Indiana University and served as a 1st lieutenant in the medical corps during WWI. He later practiced in Burlington and specialized in X ray work in Terre Haute where he died. He led the Kiwanis club and served as a church trustee. He married Sarah G Shanklin in 1909 and is survived by four brothers and two sisters.
The Stevens Loving Cup will be awarded on a five year average membership basis and given to the township with two consecutive top averages. Rock Creek won in 1929 and may receive the cup permanently if the pattern repeats. The banquet meeting is Friday Jan 9 at the Church of the Brethren in Flora. Delbert Neher visited friends and relatives in Anderson.

Mrs Bertha James and her foster daughter Shirley Hope found Frank James 40 dead in a barn a quarter mile from their home after a search begun when he was missing. A bullet through the temple and a rifle across his body suggested murder. The farm lies two and a half miles east of Flora. Burial followed at Maple Lawn cemetery after services at the Flora Church of the Brethren.
Mrs. Mary Eikenberry aged 81 died shortly after 4 PM Monday at her son Owen Hikenberry’s home two miles west of Bringhurst after two years of failing health. She leaves son Owen and Rev A R Hikenberry of North Manchester. Funeral services were held at the home and at LaPlace Indiana with burial there.
Friday and Saturday January 2 3 the Urmston Elevator held a grand opening of its new molasses machine installed recently. Over a hundred people inspected the device with forty to fifty batches ground and mixed. The machine is among the largest at Urmston Elevators and praise was heard for its operation and potential to influence the feed supply. The company invites public inspection at any time.
The Rockfield I O O F lodge installed officers Tuesday evening led by Harley Smith as N G and Wm T Emily as V G. Other officers included Delmar Galbreth F Sec, Chas Kromm R Sec, Million Treas, Wm Funkhouser trustee, John Kerlin R N G, Roy Thomas R S V G, R E Robus L U G, Louis Funkhouser warden, Carl Wee conductor, Chas McCain S G, R B Logan C G F G Sanderson chaplain. The first degree was conferred on Gerth Galbreth.
Mahlon Weis returns to work following a two week bout with influenza. He had been sidelined by illness and resumes his duties with the team.
Workers from the Garrell county and the Farm Bureau organize a drive in with J. W Bitsy directing and assist from local residents to reach the community.
Byron and Harry O Bear are both ill with flu and tonsillitis this week, leaving them sidelined from their usual activities as doctors monitor their recovery and advise rest.
John A Forgy longtime Washington township resident died at his home two miles north of Logansport on Friday morning from tuberculosis at age 73 years one month and eleven days. He leaves a wife three sons one sister Mrs Ahead of near Burrows and three half brothers. Short funeral services were held Sunday at 2 00 PM from the home and 3 00 PM at Deer Creek Presbyterian church conducted by Rev. Corky and Rev. Malone. He belonged to Deer Creek I O O F lodge and the burial was at Deer Creek cemetery.
Young People from Rock Creek Washington and Jackson townships gathered at Camden school for their district meeting. Miss Pauline Robeson presided as president and was to receive a degree from Lake Geneva. Rock Creek musicians, prayers, talks on Paul, and a basketball game between Washington and Jackson teams followed the worship program with about 150 in attendance.
Trustees Jess McCarty and Earl Stewart visit Delphi Body Works to install a new body on the school truck that was struck by a train at the Martin crossing near Rockfield. Four students riding in the front seat were lightly injured. names include Charles Ones, Margaret Wet, Helen Smith, and Mary Bendish. The vehicle had been used to take students to a party at Opal Mullis home. Cecil Alma visited Logansport Sunday.
The St Peter’s Lutheran Church describes Holy Communion attendance, ongoing church work, and a call to improve participation. It notes Sunday School progress, urges support for officers, and invites all to monthly meetings and regular services led by Pastor Elmer Kahl.

The drive runs in Carroll White Benton Cass Tippecanoe Jasper Newton and Clinton counties with the top county receiving a district prize.
