Membership drive set for January 5 aims for 1000 members, past year totaling just over 700. Plans approved for district drive and county activities with townships urged to support social and educational work.
A Community Club business meeting is set for next Monday night at Paden's cafe. Dinner begins promptly at six, and officers will be elected for the new year. All members and interested individuals are urged to attend.

The Camden school report shows 87 high school and 93 grades students with strong attendance during the first semester, December rates at 98.1 percent in high school, plus a Santa party hosted by the Sunshine Girls for local children. Student officers were elected for the Senor class, with basketball games scheduled over the Christmas vacation against Rockfield, Alumni, and Young America teams.
Four Rockfield high school students, a boy and three girls all age 15, escaped injury after their car was struck by a Wabash train near Martin Crossing east of Rockfield shortly after midnight. The group rode in the front seat, minimizing damage as the rear of the car was torn apart. They had attended a sophomore party hosted by Opal Mullins. Charles Jones 19 drove Margaret Jones Helen Smith and Mary Landis home before the crash. Charles Landis, Mary’s father, drove them to their residences after the event.
Three Carroll County offices will change hands on January 1 with five officials starting new terms. Sam Dyer will succeed Charles Thompson as county surveyor, John Hamling Jr. will succeed Joseph Ives as prosecuting attorney, and Charles W. Harpare will succeed William Funk-Ouser on the board of county commissioners. Commissioner-elect Jake Harneys will not replace C. Black until January 1, 1932. The officials who will hold new terms are Jason L. Whiteman as auditor, Irvin M. Flora as treasurer, Orville Schock as assessor, Jesse Holawson as sheriff, and Dr. Clarence Iyv Hunter as coroner.
The Young Married People's class of the Baptist church held its Christmas party on Tuesday December 23 in the chapel with 30 to 40 attending. They sang carols prayed and focused on the Babe in Bethlehem. An old fashioned school was conducted with Mrs Pholma Jones and Mr Jose Kearsall assisting. Santa arrived to distribute presents from baskets and called names as gifts were handed out. A benediction closed the pleasant evening.
A church schedule lists 9 30 Sunday School led by Manford Wolf at 10 30 Junior Congregation and 10 45 Morning Worship with Communion. Evening services at 7 00 and a note on the first business meeting of the new year January 7 at 7 30 PM.
License plates for 1931 will not go on sale until after January 1 due to a change in the Secretary of State and new office distribution. Branch managers have been replaced with new appointees, delaying operations past December 15. The plates will be yellow with black numerals on a rich yellow background.
Mr and Mrs A Gardner and their children held their annual holiday dinner at their east town home on Saturday. The gathering celebrated the twenty fifth wedding anniversary of Mr and Mrs Walter Hawkins with a fine dinner music and gifts for the couple.
W. W. Snoeberger and Lee Sink journeyed to Detroit at the start of the week to purchase new automobiles.

Martha Belle Logan 66 wife of Jacob Logan retired farmer died at home after illness of eleven weeks. A Presbyterian church member the Rockfield residents had moved from a farm north of town. Survived by husband one daughter Mrs W H Iseenhour of Radnor two sons Jesse M Logan of Flora Russell B Logan of Rockfield and two brothers J M Wheeler of Flora Funeral services were held Sunday at the Presbyterian church with burial in the Odd Fellows Cemetery.
