The Philathea Class of the Lutheran Sunday School met at Mrs. Harold Baker’s home for the December gathering and Christmas party with 35 members present. President Stel Mullin led the business session and planned another play while Olive Plank led the devotional. Groups competed in games during social hour, then a Christmas tree and gift exchange concluded the evening. The class presented Mrs. Baker an electric coffee urn as thanks for her work.

Mrs Angeline Ratcliff of Russiaville died after a lengthy illness. She was 87 last June and a sister of Dr B W Evermatt, longtime Camden school principal and former County Superintendent. News reached Mrs Frank Collier of Flora.

The Older Men and Women's Bible classes held a fine Christmas party in the church chapel Saturday evening with many present. Jennie Snoeberger led the devotional and, with Mrs. Snoeberger and Mrs. Paden, organized engaging Santa Claus themed activities. Santa and his wife, both real to the writer, visited as gifts were distributed to eager participants.
Mrs Ralph Maggart presided at the Dinner Club gathering at Dr Eva Kennedy home Monday night. A Christmas tree and gift exchange delighted attendees. Out of town guests included Mrs VanNatta of Delphi Mrs Louise Wickard near Deer Creek Mrs Evelyn Gardner of St Louis and Mrs Walter Smith of Lowell Ind. Members present included Mrs Helen Snell Evelyn Sharp Alta Bohannon Stella Johnson Faith Wickard Thelma Jones Mabel Vurpillat Margaret Harmon Florence Baker Mabel Wright Josephine Snoeberger Leona and Dorcas Mills.
Chap Cohee of the U S Army will give an illustrated lecture on China next Friday night at 7 30 at Rock Creek Lutheran church. No admission charge. The public is invited.
The Baptist church Primary Department held a Christmas party Tuesday afternoon from 2:00 to 3:30. Children greeted Santa and enjoyed the Christmas tree. All Sunday school departments hosted parties during the past week to keep the young people together.
The Unity Bible class of the Methodist church presented a pageant titled At the Door of the Inn on Sunday night. About thirty participants from the Sunday School performed with fine lighting and solid acting. The event drew a packed crowd, with many standing, and costumes loaned by local fraternal bodies while Mary Frances Welling and David Cole provided Woo children roles.
Thirty five young Baptists met in the church chapel for a backwards party Monday night. The event began with refreshments and continued in reverse order with men served toothpicks first and then the menu. Florence Gardner, a student nurse from Indianapolis, visited her parents over Christmas.
A full house attended an evening Bethlehem Story by St Peter's Lutheran Church Sunday School. Jose McCain read the Bible sketches with a large Philathea class chorus and other school members providing solo and chorus music. The program included tableaux of Bible scenes, under Mrs Florence Baker guidance. The event, though lengthy, drew reverent worship and gratitude from attendees for the instructional service.
Dr Charles Kettleborough of the Indiana crime commission finds liquor law cases declined as a share of total prosecutions. His study shows the proportion fell from about one half in 1907 to under one third in recent years, indicating court machinery remains capable under prohibition.
