A state hospital report on incipient tuberculosis treats 174 cases and finds 96 of 114 initial patients discharged as apparently recovered after about six months. Trustees cite need for early treatment and education to encourage adoption of care despite sanatorium limits.
The article describes a method to extract old well pump pipes using a wrapped chain and progressive jackscrews with an excavated trench. It also presents a plan for an adjustable drawing table built from sheet strap strips, thumbscrews, and a small shelf for tools, folds compactly for storage.
Geologist F J Hess reports on vast US mineral resources for steel hardening including manganese tungsten vanadium and uranium. Practice shows tungsten and manganese steels improve tool life and output though forging is hard. manganese steel proves durable in dredger bearings, while developments focus on practical handling and anchoring post designs.
