License Board Warns Several Over Liquor Violations

At the regular meeting the License Board warned several license holders over liquor concerns. Wm E Downie owner of the Step Inn Cafe at 177 Hampshire Street faced a charge of serving after hours after a police report observed a taxi outside at 2 35 A M on December 4. Lights were out but four men and two women sat at a booth with four beers found under the table. Mrs Downie admitted letting the officer in along with Sergt Wm Curtin and Officer Paul Keenan who noted two glasses tipped over. Keenan identified members of the group not employees. Curtin said the proprietor asked him to play square and asserted everything was on the up and up.

City Council Otfor Street Closure Vote Rejects Plan

In a crowded session the Cambridge City Council voted not to close streets in the proposed Federal Housing area after a lengthy hearing. Streets affected were School Harrison Moore and Clark, with unions targeted. Proponents included Prof Charles Killam and Cong Arthur Healey, while opposition came from Councillor Foley. Librarian appointments were postponed.

Cambridge Tri- Club to Host Christmas Party at Three

The Cambridge Tri- Club led by James Watt plans a Christmas party for younger members with games, contests, favors and a tree Tuesday afternoon at three. The Harvard Club of Boston defeated the Y team 4 to 2 Friday evening. Y team members include Captain Elliott Corse Coulter Edelstein Welch and Johnson.
