Library Trustees to Reorganize Staff in Move Near Center

Trustees vote unanimously to move Mt. Auburn branch from Hagerty School basement to Gordon Tower Co. building on Aberdeen Ave a cost about 100 dollars yearly higher after renovation. The plan includes staff reorganization and pensions, sick leave, age limits. Mayor Russell questioned overstaffing and Joyce appointment. Annie M. Tubbs, longtime Putnam Ave. agency proprietor, dies at Cambridge City Hospital.

Russell Banquet Set for Dec 28

Testimonial banquet planned in honor of Mayor Richard M. Russell at the Continental Hotel on Saturday evening December 28. City Treasurer William J. Shea originated the event to recognize Russell’s six years as mayor as his term ends January 6. Local supporters from the 9th congressional district expect large attendance. organizers include William D. Ewan Jr., Edward Cawley, and William L. Galvin.

Funeral Services of Dr. Cahill

Dr Charles S Cahill of 311 Prospect street died suddenly of a heart attack Tuesday at his home. He was 71 and a prominent Cambridge physician who helped secure Cambridge City Hospital more than 20 years ago and served on its board until 1931. He held leadership roles at Inman Cooperative Bank and Central Trust. survived by four sisters and a brother. Funeral was Friday at St Marys Church with officials and physicians in attendance. burial in Mt Auburn Cemetery.
