Army balloon No. 12 from Fort Omaha ascended and landed at Jackson Nebraska. The gas bag exploded just above the ground and was destroyed, but Captain Chandler and Lieutenant Ware were not seriously hurt. An electric spark from static charge on landing is suspected to have caused the fire.
