Miss Mayme Hawkins Dies After Prolonged Illness
Miss Mayme Hawkins daughter of Mr and Mrs O J Hawkins died at home in Newark on Tuesday at 9 am from consumption. She lived in Cambridge earlier and aided her father in architecture. Born in Quaker City in 1881 she would have turned 25 in April. Funeral services at the residence then burial in the family lot at Quaker City. Her illness lasted years and she showed notable bravery. Mrs W Lowe and son Ernest left to attend Dr C C Cole funeral near Barpeaville.

Edward T. Spence dies after crossing incident at Zanesville
Edward T. Spence of Guernsey county is fatally injured when a Cincinnati and Muskingum Valley passenger train strikes him at the Maysville Avenue crossing in Putnam Zanesville Sunday at 10. He heroically warned a carriage with two women, saving them at the cost of his life. Spence, 67, previously lived in Senecaville and Zanesville, was a longtime M. E. church member and survived by his widow, three sons, one daughter, and two brothers. He was employed by Mark Manufacturing Co. in Zanesville at the time.
