K K A Weller of Fairbanks Morse & Co spoke to Cambridge City Council about installing and operating a municipal electric plant. Proposed project would cost up to 20000 dollars for a Turner avenue plant with 200 hp gas engine and marble switchboard and provide about 4000 dollars annual net profit.
The Rev John H Carmichael pastor of three Methodist churches confessed slayer of Gideon Browning at Battle Run church. He died after cutting his throat in Miss Miranda Hughes boarding house toilet room. He left a letter to the Adair sheriff citing hypnotic influence and self defense. Continued on page five.

Wheeling West Virginia January 12 Special The Crystal Glass Works three story building on the B and O railroad between Bridgeport and Bell aire near the Ohio River was struck by a wall collapse at about 7 am The wall fell across railroad and street car tracks blocking traffic but only a few workers were inside and escaped injury with minor reports of near death.
Hartford January 12 Political operatives from across the state converge to influence the senatorship canvass between Senator Frank B Brandegee and Congressman B J Hill. Hill forces claim Brandegee faces defeat with only his home county solid for him as the Republican caucus is set for this afternoon and committee announcements are delayed until after.
Wall Street financier Charles W Morse secures a clemency aid for James B Wilson a Texan. Wilson who faced charges after antique cups were found at a Mills hotel was jailed near Morse. With Morse's support he is discharged and headed home to Galveston Texas to begin anew.
After a lengthy session lasting past midnight, the City Council approved the six month appropriation ordinance to fund fixed and current city expenses for the first half of 1909. Mayor Bradford urged careful spending and suggested cutting about $3,000 from the Service Fund, a recommendation supported by City Auditor Heade.
In Youngstown Ohio on January first an embalmer, Don McVean of Gillen and McVean, was knocked out by a corpse while preparing for burial. The dead worker’s arm relaxed striking him on the chin, dazing him. he fled the morgue and left an assistant to complete the burial.
