Frederick III Emperor of Germany Brief Life Sketch
Frederick William Nicholas Charles later King of Prussia and Emperor of Germany was born October 18 1831 at Potsdam. He studied at Konigsberg and earned a medical diploma while serving as honorary president of the university. He married Victoria Adelaide in 1858 and his heir is Frederick William Victor Albert born January 27 1859. As commander he led the second Prussian army in 1866 and the South German forces in 1870 71 including the victory at Weissenburg and the later Sedan triumph with Albert of Saxony. He aided the surrender of Napoleon and won further laurels at Paris. He was named General Field Marshal on October 28 1870.
