Fire At Eastern Insane Hospital Kills Seventeen
A blaze at the South Infirmary of the Eastern Tli nois Hospital for the Insane started in the furnace room early on the 15th. Forty five patients were inside with six attendants and one night watchman. Seventeen patients perished. thirteen bodies were recovered burned beyond recognition. The two story stone building cost $76,000 and was a total wreck. Five men died in a nearby saw mill boiler explosion near Good Springs, Schuylkill County, Pa. on the 17th.
