Pack died at 7 p.m. after intense pain. Renny anticipated recovery. Pack’s body sent to Hinton, West Virginia, with Odd Fellows and ministers in attendance. County jail and infirmary report urges reforms and safety changes
The Board of Visitors recommends banning tobacco for inmates to reform and discipline. They suggest relocating the women’s cell from the attic for fire safety and court visibility. Infirmary departments are commendable except the laundry which needs a dedicated building. Inmates should be more remotely separated.
