Bromoform Proves Promising Against Whooping Cough

German doctor Dr. Hugo Lowenthal reports treating about 100 children aged eight weeks to seven years with bromoform at the start of whooping cough. Doses of two to five drops three or four times daily were given in water, with rapid improvement in vomiting and cough within days. Some cases showed sleepiness. one infant near a semi comatose state recovered after ether, then resumed bromoform treatment with good results. London Lancet notes favorable outcomes overall.
