Prominent trustees of the Drexel estate visited the Essex Fells area on Monday afternoon. They were joined by Herman Wendell and Frederick West of the Nasex Fells Land Company for a tour of Caldwell and the Monomonac Inn before inspecting the Fells tract. The Drexel estate has about 1,000,000 dollars in holdings here.
North Caldwell resident Ralph Bach plans a new house on Mountain Avenue. The Pine Brook team faces North Caldwell Field Club on Gould Avenue this afternoon. The Borough Improvement Society elected officers Sherman Paddock president Charles Gould vice president Frederick Paddock treasurer and executive committee members Mintonye Shanz Baldwin Gould and Kuss maul. At a special Execu tive Board meeting of the Callwall Borough Improvement Association held at Mrs Nelson Burchnk Chester's home it was decided that Monday evenings will be ladies only in open bowling while men may bowl other nights Tuesday Wednesday and Saturday. The monthly meeting is scheduled for three o'clock at Association Hall with important matters to be discussed and all members urged to attend.
The Caldwell Card Club met Friday afternoon at Mrs. Steben J. Speer’s home on Central Avenue Caldwell prison were taken. Attendees included Mrs. Henry Canlipid Mrs. Roberts Bethell Mrs. James Conover and Mrs. J. B. McChesney.
Council discussed lighting arrangements with a utility, allowed a representative to attend a future meeting, and resolved taxes on certain lands owned by Messia Cruden Paddock and Little be stricken. A boundary settlement with North Caldwell was announced and a state bill affecting Edward Baldwin’s Mount Mountain farm was signed by the Governor.
Roseland community notes visiting friends return home and local talks as Wallace A. Bush takes a contract agent post for the New York and New Jersey Telephone Co. Roseland residents plan telephone service subscriptions. Church happenings include a Roseland Presbyterian housewarming and new members. The Roseland Whist Club and Bowling Club report meetings and officers with J R Teed leading the bowling averages.
Mrs. J W Smith and daughter Gertrude of Jersey City stay at Pine Brook. Invitations issued for the marriage of Miss Mamie Van Winkle of Pine Brook to Joseph Weed of Rockaway on Monday May 20. Clubhouse to open decoration day events with games on the new diamond, brass band, and an evening entertainment and dance.
A small gathering in Caldwell Presbyterian Church lecture room hosted by the Ladies Aid Society Tuesday night. A piano solo by Agnes Peck and Helen Provont, vocal items by Carrie Louise Jacobus Mia Elena Burdick Chester Ciara Lindsley, and recitations by Florence-field, followed by refreshments.

The program included piano solo Les Huguenots Op. 44 no 8 by Smith Mabel Speer soprano Spring Song by Boga, a Boys Congress address, music trio, and several vocal selections by Annette Van Duyne Kisle Jacobus and Kelsie Mead. A Rambling address by Rev Lucas and a two violin and piano trio featured Nyasoby pears Elsie Mead and others.
A birthday surprise was tendered to Miss Gertrude Jacobus of Campbell avenue Caldwell on Saturday afternoon. Attending were Misses Valoreocé Edns Barns Katherine Nettie ood Fanoie Bischoff Meg Stagett Nellie Miller Mabel Jacobus ee fingee i Beauv Laura ume and Armily Millet.
Community report from Livingston highlights a Junior Sunshine Club gathering at Mrs Edward Vincent’s home. Social visits include Mrs Oberies and Mr and Mrs Force returning from Florida. The Livingston Athletic Club plans a baseball game at North Caldwell on Saturday. Several seniors at Livingston High School will graduate next month. Baptist United trustees met and Parkhurst recounts were audited ahead of the parish meeting.
The Isabella Literary Club met Tuesday afternoon at Mrs. Charles A. Williams residence in Verona. They voted an appropriation for preserving the Palisades and heard talks on Porto Rico by Mrs. Woodruff who urged missionary work. she also showed Porto Rican artifacts. The next meeting is May 23 at Mrs. H. H. D. King’s home Hoboken with lunch at 1 PM after a 11:35 AM train from Montclair.
Edward Madison Fairfield moves to Van Ness cottage next week. Caldwell Lodge No 59 F and A M attends divine service at Fairfield Church Sunday at eleven. Jane Williams leaves hospital for Verona home of Mrs J Harvey Smith and is improving. A musical and literary entertainment at Reformed Church Fairfield on Wednesday May 17 at eight features soloists from Orange and Newark churches.
The Ladies' Aid Society met Thursday afternoon. Misa Myraseeker of Newark visits her parents Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Meeker. The Junior Aid Society hosted an ice cream festival Wednesday night in the school building. George Gamble and family from Weat Orange visit Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Gamble. Mrs. George B. Schulte Miss Wlia McChesney and Miss Gertrude Fund organize Children's Day exercises at the Baptist Church Sunday morning.
