Eleven airmen from Hunter Field Savannah died when their four engine B 50 bomber crashed and burned near Dunmow England during a routine training flight. The Savannah authorities say the cause is not yet determined.

Sen. Walter George of Georgia urged that Sen. Dick Russell be named minority floor leader in the new Republican Congress. If Russell declines, George said the post could go to Sen. John Sparkman. George predicted smooth GOP organization and good business next year despite the victory.
