Four members of the Harvard family die in Lake Black Shear near Smoke's Bridge on the Cordele Albany highway. The victims are Hubert Harvard 36 and his wife 30 of Arabi their son Harry nine and Preston Arnold Arabi High School senior. The boat capsized when Arnold tried to untangle a line from an electric wire over the lake. Mrs Cleon Felton Davis a Marshallville resident died in a Fort Valley area wreck while being driven home by her husband. She was 49, had no visible injuries except a head bump and shock.
