Revival Services At Methodist Church To End Friday
Revival services at the local Methodist church will close Friday evening. Rev. Wade E. Scott of Columbus conducts daily meetings at 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. Dan Hooks of Columbus aids with vocal and violin solos and leads the song service. Attendance is strong. Pastor Rev. J. W. M. Stipe, returning from Batesville, Arkansas, will assist for the remainder of the meeting. The public is invited to attend each service.

Negro Claims Bank Ownership and Demands Cash
Matt Wayman a 35 year old Black man from the Panhandle community entered the Citizens State Bank in Reynolds on Monday and told cashier R L Bell that he owned the bank and demanded five thousand dollars. He was arrested by Reynolds Police Chief J Hugh Windham and later turned over to Sheriff J M Bone who committed him to the state insane asylum.

Griffin Plans To Make Race For Lieutenant Governor
Griffin of Bainbridge, a longtime Georgia political figure and radio presence, announced Tuesday his candidacy for lieutenant governor in the September 8 primary. He will reveal his platform later after a career as executive secretary to Gov. E. D. Rivers and adjutant general during Ellis Arnall’s term. He led a Georgia National Guard anti aircraft battalion in the South Pacific as a lieutenant colonel. In 1946 he ran second in the lieutenant governor race, later aligning with Herman Talmadge during the dual-governor period.

Severe hail battered Jackson County communities in Northeast Georgia late Sunday, ripping a mile wide and 15 to 20 miles long path. Commerce suffered the worst damage with estimates at 30 000 to 50 000 dollars as roofs and barns were riddled and crops damaged. livestock losses were reported but no injuries.

Turner’s Body Found Partly Burned in Meriwether County
Columbus reports a burned partly destroyed body identified as missing Wil son Turner, found in a rough grave in Meriwether County after an 11 day search. Four Meriwether men, including John Wallace and Herring Sivell, are charged with Turner’s murder. Turner disappeared two weeks ago after a dispute with Wallace, a former employer, and was reportedly beaten and dumped after being chased through Coweta and Moreland.

Letter Found in Well Linked to Meriwether Slaying
A signed but unsigned letter by Wilson Turner was found in an abandoned well in Meriwether County near Newnan. Sheriff A L Potts said Turner’s body lay in the almost dry well for perhaps a couple of days after his brutal murder, with brains skin and bones found at the bottom.
