Flower Show at Reynolds a Big Local Success
The Reynolds Club House hosted a highly attended flower show on Friday May 6 sponsored by the Gordon Carson Chapter U D C with Mrs C H Neisler as president and Mrs E H Joiner as chair. Judges included Mr Walter Butler Mrs A C Blount and Mrs L F Mosley. Sweepstakes winner was Mrs D E Byrd with 17 points. second place went to Mrs R E Aultman with 12 points. Prizes honored many exhibitors including Mrs M A Liffey for snapdragons and the Baptist Missionary Society for a lily pool entry.

Man Shot While Guarding Convicts Dies In Local Hospital
Ern est Griffin Cooper 29 a Taylor county convict guard died at Montgomery hospital after a shotgun discharge while guarding convicts on a road project near Mauk. He stood on a truck bumper when the gun slipped and buckshot entered his abdomen and chest. Cooper was survived by his wife Bessie McGuffin, his parents, four brothers, six sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at his parents home and he was buried at Sand Bethel cemetery.

Funeral services were held Thursday at New Life Freewill church in Marion County for Rev. E C Grimsley who died at his home near Concord in Schley County. Born April 28 1856 he would have turned 88. Survived by widow two sons and three daughters plus 24 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
