School Teachers Hope to Receive Increase in Pay
The Finance Committee of the State Board of Education aims for a yearly raise of at least 200 to 300 dollars for teachers. The 1955 56 education budget includes 12 280 000 in new school taxes. The committee plans to use the money to hire about 1200 teachers and provide salary increases under the Minimum Foundation Program plus a flat raise.

Death of Solicitor General Davison Jr. in Columbus
The six county Chattahoochee Circuit solicitor general Russell C Davison Jr was found dead at his Columbus home Friday night with suspected suicide by self inflicted wounds. Coroner and police report say he had emotional distress prior to death and had just returned from Atlanta with his father in law. Funeral services were held Sunday at Parkhill Cemetery in Columbus.

Death of Buena Vista resident Mrs A C Duncan
Mrs A C Duncan died June 22 in Pineworth hospital Macon after years of illness. Born March 19 1884 in Dawson Terrell County she moved to Buena Vista in 1888 and studied at Wesleyan College and National Park Seminary. She married A C Duncan in 1911 and is survived by her husband a daughter a son a sister and four grandchildren.

Death of W. H. Lowe Sr. Removes Marion County Leader
W. H. Lowe Sr. 77 longtime Marion County treasurer for 11 years died June 22 after an extended illness at Americus and Sumter County hospital. He was born in Stewart County and lived most of his life in Buena Vista. He served 38 years as treasurer of the Marion County Red Cross. Survivors include his wife two daughters Miss Cornelia Lowe of Columbus and Leesburg and Mrs. Jack Forrester of Leesburg a son Maj. W. H. Lowe Jr. of Fort Eustis Va. three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents J. E. Lowe and Miss Cornelia Wright. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 7. Funeral was Sunday at 4 p m in Buena Vista Methodist Church with Rev. Lou Veal and Rev. R. T. Padgett officiating. Interment in the family lot at cemetery.

Reynolds and Taylor county friends mourn the 71 year old native of Reynolds who died Sunday after a short illness at Fort Valley Hospital. He spent 25 years in Jacksonville before moving to Fort Valley. Interment was in Jacksonville. funeral services were held at Fort Valley Baptist Church. Survived by wife Janet Watson three daughters two sisters one brother and several grandchildren.
