No Funds Available For New Welfare Applications
The Taylor County Department of Public Welfare states no funds exist to process new applications for Old Age Assistance Aid to the Blind and Aid to Dependent Children. No new cases have been added since April 1939 when nine active cases were suspended. 72 have been reinstated or otherwise disposed of. As funds become available, about one new case per month may be processed, likely not before 1941 when the General Assembly may provide for those in the awaiting file. Every application will receive a thorough investigation and board review once funds permit.
