Local Farmers Study Agricultural Problems In Co
Taylor county farmers and technical workers studied the county’s agricultural situation and recommended improvements. They note income from cotton, peanuts, poultry, naval stores, timber, peaches, and pecans, praise a local cooperative egg shipping and feed buying system, and list diverse credit sources. The report highlights low income, limited winter cover cropping, erosion, submarginal land, small herd sizes, six to seven acres per person for cropland, and lack of public recreation facilities.
