The United States will observe National Rose Week from June 9 to 16 with sponsors from the All-American Rose Selection American Rose Society the American Association of Nurserymen The Georgia Rose Society and other groups. Gov Griffin has declared Georgia will celebrate the week and urged all residents to visit public parks and gardens during the period.

Community Notes from Howard Area Burdened By Travel and Visits
Mrs. J E Brown departed Sunday for a several weeks visit with her daughter Mrs Felix Pierce in Waverly Hall. Families including the Clark, Edmondson, Martin, and Vanlandingham clans visited, shopped, or attended funerals and conferences in nearby towns. Several residents returned to duties and members of the community were sick but are hoped to recover soon.

Taylor County Cancer Drive Reaches Five Hundred Forty Five
The Taylor County Cancer Drive receipts total five hundred forty five dollars with donations from Butler Reynolds Carsonville Daviston Union Rupert and Panhandle among others. The State Welfare Department district office will move from Columbus to Americus on July 1 to serve seventeen counties.
