Macon June 2 America will be postwar capital of the world said Mark Ethridge general manager of the Louisville Courier Journal. He spoke to Mercer University’s 109th graduating class after receiving an honorary doctor of laws. Ethridge traced causes of WWI and urged a world federation replacing Pax Brittanica with Pax Americana. He noted England’s continued influence but predicted U S leadership in world affairs.

Fort Valley Woman Killed in Air Plane Crash
Mrs. Avis McDonald, 35, local Western Union manager, was killed when the car she rode in was hit by a plane from Cochran Field, Macon. Her three children Dorman 13 Margie 5 and Carol 7 and Maurice Jones were injured, as were two men aboard the plane.

Butler High Graduates Return From Jacksonville Beach Trip

Funeral services held Friday for Mrs Emerson
Mrs Sara Lula Emerson wife of Elder W H Emerson died of pneumonia at the local hospital May 28 at ten o'clock after a two week illness. She was born August 3 1874 in Macon county and moved to Taylor county thirty four years ago. She joined Little Bethel Freewill Baptist church and led others to the Saviour. Funeral at Little Bethel church near Ideal conducted by Rev M J Wood assisted by Rev H L Lumpkin. Interment Little Bethel cemetery. Surviving: husband three daughters five grandchildren one brother and one sister. Goddard's Funeral Home Reynolds in charge.

State Committee To Meet In Atlanta For Sept Primary Date

Former Local Pastor Returns as Cordele Church Pastor
Rev Earl W Anderson has been appointed pastor of Cordele Methodist church and will assume duties on June first. The former Cordele pastor Rev Roy Sampley now serves as chaplain in the U S Army at Ft Murphy Florida. Andrews return to Georgia excites friends in Butler where he led the local church in 1911 1912 and he went to Korea as a missionary before studying at the University of Chicago after his return a year ago.
