In Jesup Georgia on Monday a Brunswick painter Rudy Rawls, 41, was charged with murder in the death of John Floyd, a 35 year old Jesup auto mechanic. Floyd’s wife Daisy Riles Floyd is held as a material witness. Rawls reportedly admitted firing a shotgun blast into Floyd’s chest and then disposing of the body in the Altamaha River.

Reynolds residents mourn the death of Wm Ingram Powell aged 88 89 in the next year who died at his home following a short illness. Whittington dies after illness in Mauk area
Mr Frances Early Whittington died at the local hospital on Monday February 16 after a several weeks illness. He was a lifelong resident of Taylor county and a farmer in the Mauk community. Funeral services were held at Mauk Baptist church on Wednesday February 18 at three o clock with Rev Fred Johnson officiating. Pallbearers included Dave Harbuck Dock Pike Jack Turner Roy Waller Gerson Waller and Hinton Woodall. Survivors: his wife Emma Cleveland Whittington two daughters Mrs C B Heath and Mrs G A Gentry and three sons Sidnes Leamon and Pershing Whittington.

R. L. Bell of Reynolds mourns the death of his brother J. E. Bell at Sebree Kentucky aged 77. A prominent citizen and civic leader, he served as assistant cashier at Sebree Deposit Bank and had a long banking career including time at Gordon Georgia and both Sebree banks before the 1939 merger. Funeral services were held at the Sebree Methodist Church. He is survived by three brothers and two sisters along with many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted for Mrs G M McBryde 68 at Juniper Methodist Church in Talbotton Georgia with Rev D W Alverson presiding. Burial followed in Geneva cemetery.
