Atlanta February 20 Marcus Mee Whorter director of the automobile tag division says more than 100000 Georgia automobile owners have not purchased 1967 license tags. Owners who fail to buy by March 1 face a $1.60 surcharge plus the regular $3 fee.

Atlanta Feb 28 temperance committee of the Georgia house by a 20 to 8 vote recommended passage of a liquor prohibition bill calling for licensed package stores. The measure favors repeal on a local option basis with law taking effect only in counties where a referendum votes for liquor. It would allow package store sales and mixed drinks in hotels clubs and dining cars. A committee amendment proposed removing restaurants from mixed drinks provisions. County Agent Bembry warns farmers against overly steep terraces. Georgia Extension service engineer G I Johnson says modern broad base terraces should grade gradually from near level to outlet, not exceed four to six inches per 100 feet.
