Hauptmann Sentenced to Electric Chair for Lindbergh Kidnap
Bruno Richard Hauptman was condemned to die in the electric chair for the Lindbergh baby kidnapping murder. Pendergrass Veteran Educator Dies At 94 In Newnan
Professor John E. Pendergrass a Confederate veteran and longtime educator died Friday at his son’s home in Newnan. Born in Heard County he served in the Seventh Georgia Regiment, later led Newnan schools as headmaster of the Female Academy and high school principal, then county superintendent retiring in 1917. Funeral at First Methodist Church Newnan with interment in Oakhill Cemetery. survived by another son Ralph and daughter Mrs J W Daniel.
