Georgia House approves compulsory auto liability bill

Cromer Dies at Home in Ideal After Illness

Roberta native Mrs Eulia Felts aged 88 died at her Roberta home Sunday after a period of illness. Funeral service was held at 2 30 p m Monday at Providence Primitive Baptist church with Eld Geo R Hunt and Eld C E Darnty officiating. Burial followed in the family cemetery near Roberta. Survivors include two daughters Mrs Harris of Roberta and Mrs Mattie Felts Conelly of Lewisburg Tenn a son John Felts of Roberta 13 grandchildren 22 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Mrs Myrtis Garrett Burgin of Macon was severely beaten and robbed at her Corbin Avenue home by George Cain an escaped convict who admitted breaking in through a front room window He said he struck her with his hand grabbed her throat and stole two rings and a handbag containing a small amount of cash Cain 33 was arrested after trying to pawn one ring and faces burglary and robbery by force charges The victim remained in Parkview hospital with condition described as good Detective details listed J R Branan C E Robinson and J E Brooks led the case.

Edwin Stevens of Dawson a national peanut industry leader and Terrell County businessman died at his home Tuesday night from a self inflicted gunshot wound. He had suffered heart attacks and a stomach hemorrhage in recent years and had turned Stevens Industries over to his son in law M E Williams in 1950. He leaves a wife two daughters a brother and a sister. Funeral is at the Methodist church Tuesday afternoon with Rev D A Duck and Rev Hillis presiding. He founded Dawson Cotton Oil Co Cinderella Foods and the S W Co and led Dawson to become a major Georgia industry and municipal patron as former mayor and longtime philanthropist.
