January Term Court Opens Here In Taylor County
The January term of Taylor County Superior Court will convene Monday morning with Judge T Hicks Fort of Columbus presiding. Hon Hubert Calhoun will serve as Solicitor General and assist with the court, with R O Perkins as court reporter. Upson County Man Is Released on Bond In Liquor Cases
Four men, including Carl Walters Aldine Stewart and Richard Walker, were arrested on liquor charges during pre Christmas raids by State Revenue Agent Jack Caldwell and others in Upson County. Walters and Stewart posted $300 bonds, Walker $500, and Y A Johnson faced a $500 bond for non tax paid liquor. Crews confiscated liquor beer and broken cases from several locations.

Montezuma Family Victim in La Auto Crash En Route to California
Mrs L R B Gilmore of Montezuma was killed in a Tallulah Louisiana automobile crash while her family traveled to Los Angeles to visit her mother. Her husband, hotel operator, suffered a broken arm and five broken ribs. A four month old baby had a broken leg. Two young sons had scratches and bruises. The family was rushed to a local hospital where Mrs Gilmore died about 30 minutes later.

Three Camp Gordon Soldiers Die In Christmas Jeep Crash
Three Camp Gordon soldiers stationed at Augusta were killed instantly when their jeep crashed into the rear of a parked Watkins Products Company trailer truck on Highway 80 five and a half miles west of the Half-way House. State Patrol said the jeep, westbound toward Columbus, drove into the truck driven by Gaines Starling of Madison Florida. Starling was charged with involuntary manslaughter and released on bond after patrol investigation. Army authorities withheld IDs pending next of kin notification.
