Pupils studying expression and music will be presented in a recital on Wednesday December 20 at 7 80 oclock p m. The public and all interested in these arts are invited to attend.
Butler Methodist Church invites all to Sunday School at 10 a.m. and worship at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. The pastor is Hightower. Everyone is welcome to attend services.
The local committee invites Senator Russell as a distinguished guest to give a short address while motorcaders rest. Cold drinks and fruit are served by a large group of girls as the gathering continues.
Mrs. H. P. Wallace was stricken late Tuesday night and reported critically ill yesterday. Her daughters Mrs. Marion Farris of Savannah and Mrs. G. F. Oliphant of Macon are at her bedside.
The Georgia Public Service Commission issued a certificate permitting Ader Coach Line of Albany to operate a motor bus schedule over Route Three from Griffin to the Florida line. The authorization is effective immediately, but a schedule has not yet been filed.

In Taylor county the Federal Civil Works Administration conducts business training for women. Mrs. Lula Wall coordinates with instructors Mrs. Mac Riley and Miss Helen Ilson teaching typing, business English, general office work, arithmetic and spelling from 9 to 11 am and 3 pm in the superior court room. Courses run four to six months with standard state school credits and report strong enrollment.
Mrs. Sally Smith Searcy widow of John S. Searcy died at her Thomasville home after a brief illness. Born February 25, 1866 in Culloden she moved with her husband from Butler to Meigs then to Thomasville in 1912. She leaves a daughter Mrs. W H Weller of Hannibal and four sons Paul Hugh John Searcy of Thomasville a sister and a brother.
The Cross Roads School improvement club sponsors a fiddlers convention at the Cross Roads school building Friday night December 22 inviting all county fiddlers to participate. A small admission fee will be charged to help pay for essential equipment for the school and public support is welcome.
Six thousand six hundred seven bales of cotton were ginned in Taylor County before December 4 1988, compared with five thousand seventy six bales ginned by December 1 1982.
Today at noon dedication exercises honor pioneering residents of Taylor and Upson counties. The ceremony marks the opening of a bridge made possible by Route ree funding and local civic effort.
Mrs. Mittie Turner widow of John Turner died after months of illness at her home three miles south of Butler on the Butler Americus highway at 8 25 Tuesday night. Born May 11 1865 she spent a long life in service to family and community. Surviving are four sons and two daughters. Funeral services were held at the family residence with Elder S H McCorkle presiding. Pallbearers were R Brewer J H Brewer W A Childs P B Childs EA Childers and T B Joimer.
Mrs Sara Hutchings Steed died at her Macon home aged 79. A charter member of Vineville Methodist Church she is survived by two sons Phillip and Frank Steed two daughters Cornelia and BH Woodruff a brother Dr Richard Hutchings Utica NY and a sister Mrs Alice Houston Orlando FL. She was born Clinton June 8 1854 graduated Wesleyan College 1872 married Robert E Steed in 1878 and had lived in Macon since. Hon W E Steed is a nephew.
