Prof Claude W. Lowe of Edison public schools spoke at the Buena Vista Baptist Church on Thanksgiving Day. He urged gratitude to Jehovah and cautioned that true thanksgiving requires renewal of standards, praising work, health, friends, and divine blessing. An Interesting Bit Of History Connected With Andrew College
Eighty years ago Rev J H Caldwell, Randolph county resident, helped found Andrew Female College to advance Christian education for young women. A four room building with central stack chimney, named for Bishop Osgood Andrew, became the first structures and hosted two boarding students who later graduated. The college grew, presidents changed, Civil War impact, hospital use, a private school for women during war, then 1866 reopening under Dr A L Hamilton who led growth until his resignation after five years.

Remains of a Prominent Butler Woman Interred in Butler
The remains of Mrs. Crena Caldwell widow of Henry Harrison Caldwell were laid to rest in the Butler cemetery after an impressive service at the Fuller home in Panhandle district. She died Monday afternoon after months of ill health. A daughter of the late Richard and Crena Rucker, she remained active in the local Baptist church. Funeral rites at the Fuller residence and at the grave were led by Rev. J Ny Shell and Rev. W B Hightower. Surviving relatives include J Puller Reynolds, and several Caldwell, Sayers, and Gray family members residing in Alabama, Florida, and Georgia.
