Mass Taxpayers Hear Resolution Meeting in Taylor County
A large Friday gathering of Taylor County taxpayers at the courthouse elected Hon. J. T. Childs as chair and Col. W. J. Wallace as secretary. Resolution actions called for tax relief, reduced levies, consolidation of offices, and a single county commissioner, with a plan to present demands to the County Commissioners. Adopted unanimously on November 28, 1980.

Roberta Boy Knocked Down By Auto After Bus Drop
Roberta Georgia November 28 8 year old son of Mr and Mrs Charles Hart injured when a woman driver from Potterville struck him as he left a school bus. He suffered a broken leg and cuts but rests comfortably. Driver offered aid and to pay medical costs. no blame for the motorist.

Injunction Case Continued Until December 15th
Taylor County court adjourned a non jury session with Judge C F McLaughlin presiding. The injunction case against tax levies for a new courthouse was postponed to December 16 for audit results by accountant K E Bray from Columbus. Jail cases disposed included Young given 12 months for liquor, Gunnell 12 months, McCrary 10 3/ months, and Dandy 6 months on road work.

Old Landmark Burns. Family Narrowly Escapes
An historic residence known as the Wash Hodge place on the northwest corner of the Citizens State Bank block burned Wednesday at 5 am. Owned by E A Hollis and occupied by Terrell Waters, the 70 year old dwelling and its furniture were destroyed, insured in part. The Waters family escaped with their lives as the origin of the fire remains unknown.

Hog cholera outbreak warned in county prompt double treatment
An important notice warns of hog cholera threats in Marion county near Norwich Nor which killed hogs Sun day and Monday. Growers near Bateman Colbert mill and other districts report losses from cholera. County tax rate reduced ten mills and bond plan eyed
Taylor county authorities cut the 1930 tax levy by ten mills and abandoned a new courthouse by tax raise, opting to consult voters on a bond issue. City Filling Station Sold to Bus Line Operator
Mr J F Posey has sold his interest in the City Filling Station to Riley Gray, operator of a local bus line, and will combine the two enterprises. The station, one of Butler’s oldest and most popular gas stations, is on the public square west of the courthouse and faces Route Three.

State Health Nurse to Visit Taylor County
The State Board of Health will send Miss McLean, one of their top nurses, to Taylor county on December 10. She will meet groups of ladies to discuss home care of the sick, parental care, and to organize a committee to undertake general educational health work in the county. New Pastor Arrives Today at Butler Methodist Church
Rev J A Cooky and his family arrive by car from Pembroke this afternoon about six o clock to take up duties as pastor and joining in church work. The family includes his wife a daughter aged ten and two sons aged eight and two years. A Cooky sister in law and her husband accompany to help settle them at the parsonage. A welcome committee will meet them and host a pantry shower as part of today’s program arranged by church ladies.

Old Man Owl Captured Near Taylor County Home
One of the region's largest owls, a steel trap victim, was captured near the home of Hon. L. T. Peed, Ordinary of Taylor County, yesterday morning. The bird stretched 57 inches from wing tip to wing tip on the tape measure.
