The Thomaston Production Credit Association will hold its annual stockholders meeting in the Upson County courthouse courtroom Thomaston Friday August 18 at 10 30 a m. Marines Press Through Front Lines In Korean Battle

On August 7 1949 and reports from multiple bureaus describe Marine and Army units breaking through heavy enemy barriers on the South Korean front despite poor roads. Casualties hit Leathernecks as plans were announced to call up 80 000 Marine reserves, expanding active strength to about 200 000. The Philippines offered to send a fully trained 5 000 infantry regiment to Korea. A tank led Communist advance neared the South Korean capital Eaegu within 10 miles as Allied forces held the western line. Australian Mustang pilots said haystacks on the front abroad exploded dramatically when struck on suspicion of housing explosives.

Death of Mrs. Martha Christian at Buena Vista home

Mrs. Martha Christian 68 longtime matron of the Georgia State College for Women Milledgeville died suddenly after a heart attack Tuesday in Buena Vista where she lived. A Marion county native daughter of Fletcher Nelson and Dora Short she also worked as a supply teacher for the Marion county high school.

Banquet Planned For Butler Post Junior Legion Ball Team

Hi Neighbor Day Group Plans Taylor County Visit

Civic leaders from Columbus and Phenix City visit Reynolds and Butler Tuesday morning as part of the Hi Neighbor Day program. They will be at Reynolds City Hall at 10 30 a m and Butler courthouse at 11 30 a m to invite Taylor County citizens to visit Columbus and Phenix City, not only on Hi Neighbor Day but every day.

Man's Body Recovered After Macon County Car Wreck

Dozier D Bellew of Oglethorpe 58 was found dead in his wrecked automobile at the bottom of a creek near an old ferry in Macon county. State patrolmen said he died from injuries when his car left a small bridge and plunged into the creek six miles west of Marshallville on Georgia Route 127.
