The Corporation of Burra announces that at close of nominations on 7th May 1948 four nominations were received for council seats. Councillors John Alfred Scot Fisher North Ward Edward Thomas Saulderstone East Ward William Joseph Lee West Ward were declared elected for a two year term starting the 61st Saturday in July. The Council of the Town of Burra proposes a ten year loan of 1200 pounds from The Savings Bank of South Australia secured by general rates. Interest named in the debenture is 3 pounds 1 shilling 6 pence per hundred yearly. Details of works include sports oval improvements and tents courts. Plans and cost estimates are open for inspection at the Cornell Chamber, Burra Town Clerk E R Davey announces.
Supplementary election notice states nominations for the mayoral vacancy will be received at the Cornell Chamber Town Hall Burra up to noon on Saturday May 28 1948.
