No one shows for Revenue answer due wednesday funds hearing Burnet a the county commissioners have yet to find a use for approximately $30,000 of Revenue sharing funds. A special session of commissioners court was held monday morning to discuss possible uses for the Money but no one appeared with any requests or suggestions. The amount which the county receives from Federal tax revenues varies every year but county treasurer mrs. Jerry Miller reported an approximate figure of $30,465 per Quarter $121,860 per year. Mrs. Miller s books show a surplus of $30,236.56 which has not yet been allocated though at least $4,000 of that is expected to go to Road construction in commissioner Gene Clements precinct. A total of $19,200 per year goes to subsidizing fire trucks operated by Volunteer fire departments in Burnet Marble Falls Bertram Granite Shoals East Lake Buchanan Horseshoe Bay and Cassie. $6,591 goes to meals on wheels the nutrition program for the elderly. $3,000 goes to the child welfare fund $1,500 to the Hill country soil conservation District and $4,800 to Darrell Debo for next year s work on his projected Book Quot history of Burnet the Revenue sharing funds also go to the sheriff s department for autos. The commissioners agreed that some of the surplus Money should be set aside for a new county jail. The current Revenue sharing program runs until 1980. Phone company shuffle affects local facility a major reorganization within Continental Telephone company has resulted in the Burnet facility of the company becoming a service Center instead of one of the six District offices in the state. The Burnet service Center will be reporting to the Fairfield District office instead of to company Headquarters in Dallas. The reorganization will result in no reduction of personnel located at Burnet however said company spokesmen. The Center will continue to service the 15 exchanges it now services. Two other service centers which formerly reported to the Burnet District office Floresville and Whitney now also report to the Fairfield District office.
