Feels the Buchanan Community Center Volunteer fire department inc. Has too much of a name and has asked acc Mfd inc. To shorten its title to acc inc. The Buchanan Community Center also known As the red barn is the Legal responsibility of the acc Mfd a non profit corporation entrusted with the building. The Back garage of the red barn houses the fire trucks which Are used by the by Mfd another separate non profit corporation which concerns itself with fighting fires in the Buchanan dam area. A stipulation in the charter of the acc Mfd states that the acc Mfd is responsible for providing a location and equipment for a Volunteer fire department and the by Mfd is the Only Volunteer fire department in the area having been chartered in april 1977. Last wednesday night at the business meeting of the acc Mfd Sam Logan president of the by Mfd read a letter to the Board of trustees of the acc Mfd in answer to a letter by acc Mfd chairman mrs. Inez Lewis. Letter printed in its entirety on Page 31 mrs. Lewis wrote Quot the Community is being led to a state of confusion by this second fire department Quot meaning the by Mfd Logan s response to mrs. Lewis letter entered on the question of rights and obligations of the two corporations. It was Logan s Contention that the acc Mfd has no authority Over the by Mfd and is by Law obligated to provide the equip ment for the by Mfd. Asking that the acc Mfd shorten its name by omitting Mfd Logan went on to say in conclusion we would be egotist or liars if we said we did not need or want your moral physical and financial support in the Buchanan dam Volunteer fire department Logan s letter asked the blessings of the Quot acc Quot and expressed Hopes that the two corporations could Quot work harmoniously Quot and added Quot we stand ready to help the acc with their financial obligations and request them to reciprocate in like the Board of trustees of the Bic Mfd inc. Tabled action on Logan s request to Amend their name but gave the 30 or so members of by Mfd who attended the meeting a verbal Promise to give them an answer in two weeks.
