Marble Falls Superintendent H Murchison to head Brownwood Schools

Brownwood School Board unanimously approved a contract for Howard Murchison Jr to become Brownwood superintendent starting July 1. Marble Falls officials plan a special meeting tonight to consider releasing him. he will stay through June 10 with three weeks vacation before reporting in Brownwood. The board will search for his Marble Falls replacement, with Truett Mobley discussed as a possible candidate.

Burnet City Seeks Citizen Ideas for 15000 Revenue Sharing

Burnet City Council invites residents to propose how to spend 15000 in revenue sharing funds across categories such as public safety, parks, libraries, and health. Poage to Speak at Burnet Industrial Barbecue

Congressman W. R. Poage will be honored guest speaker at the Burnet Foundation Industrial Company barbecue at 7 p.m. Friday in the Industrial Park. The event honors his help securing a Federal Farmers Home Administration grant to bring utilities to the Industrial Park. The Burnet Chamber of Commerce led effort aims to recruit new members and explain the foundation’s community work. Poage will discuss benefits of an industrial foundation and park for the community.

CB Radio Thefts Hit Burnet County Area

Burnet Police report a rash of CB thefts Thursday night into Friday with four radios stolen in the county. Victims include Estes Smith and Charles Mills on Hamilton Creek Drive in Barnet who lost a Winchester rifle and a CB radio respectively. Incident notes mention vent glass damage to trucks and advise owners to ID CBs with license numbers or sheriff office engravings to aid recovery.

Burnet County Savings and Loan Association opens in Burnet at 10 a.m. in a temporary location with plans for a new permanent building at Highway 29 and Main Street. James Holcomb named president. Willard Norris secretary treasurer. group of local businessmen led the effort over three years. Charter issued Oct 29 1973 with state and federal approvals underway since January 1972.
