Burnet Chamber of Commerce retail committee approves Burnet’s Bonus Buys plan to boost local business. Coupons appear in The Burnet County Bulletin with weekly $25 prize prizes and a final Christmas week drawing.
More than 250 people gathered at the Burnet County Fair Barn Thursday night to support D. V. Jennie Hammond for the 33rd District Judgeship. Attendees paid $5 for barbecue as Kerrville comic Buttermilk Sauer entertained, joking and singing while Hammond urged continued support.
Marble Falls candidates for Places 5 6 and 7 in the school board race call for unity within the administration and district finances. They propose a preliminary budget before tax rate setting and scrutinizing the budget for trims while aiming to curb spending and ensure fair taxation.
A full Burnet high school cafeteria hosted the Burnet Bulldogs All Sports Banquet with coaches and six sport athletes recognized. Guest speaker Cactus Pryor of Austin entertained and praised area athletic facilities and Burnet athletes while urging students to value their workouts.
Patrolman Johnnie De Spain reports a late Monday crash on U S 281. Twenty year old Mark Craft of Gatesville, hitchhiking, drove a 1974 Ford pickup camper with a 20 foot trailer, went onto the shoulder, trailer overturned, then the pickup rolled and ended upside down. Craft uninjured. vehicle owner Dean Unruh of Pawnee Rock Kansas witnessed with his wife driving a Buick. no citation issued.
Burnet and Marble Falls Concert Bands, both in AA division, earned perfect I ratings in UIL sight reading and concert tests at Burnet High. Judges from outside the district combined scores from sight reading and concert performance to award trophies for rating only.
The Marble Falls Chamber of Commerce hosts its annual banquet Tuesday March 30 at the high school cafetorium starting at 7 p.m. Dallas Cowboys offensive tackle Rayfield Wright will speak and the Outstanding Citizen of the Year award will be announced. Tickets cost 5 dollars at the Chamber office or at the door. Wright, 66, 260 pounds, played nine seasons for the Cowboys and attended Fort Valley State University. The public is invited.
