A full Burnet high school cafeteria hosted the Burnet Bulldogs All Sports Banquet with coaches and six sport athletes recognized. Guest speaker Cactus Pryor of Austin entertained and praised area athletic facilities and Burnet athletes while urging students to value their workouts.

Hitchhiker Wrecks Trailer And Pickup On Highway 281

Patrolman Johnnie De Spain reports a late Monday crash on U S 281. Twenty year old Mark Craft of Gatesville, hitchhiking, drove a 1974 Ford pickup camper with a 20 foot trailer, went onto the shoulder, trailer overturned, then the pickup rolled and ended upside down. Craft uninjured. vehicle owner Dean Unruh of Pawnee Rock Kansas witnessed with his wife driving a Buick. no citation issued.

Burnet and Marble Falls Bands Tie for Top Ratings

Burnet and Marble Falls Concert Bands, both in AA division, earned perfect I ratings in UIL sight reading and concert tests at Burnet High. Judges from outside the district combined scores from sight reading and concert performance to award trophies for rating only.

Marble Falls Chamber Banquet features Cowboys star Rayfield Wright

The Marble Falls Chamber of Commerce hosts its annual banquet Tuesday March 30 at the high school cafetorium starting at 7 p.m. Dallas Cowboys offensive tackle Rayfield Wright will speak and the Outstanding Citizen of the Year award will be announced. Tickets cost 5 dollars at the Chamber office or at the door. Wright, 66, 260 pounds, played nine seasons for the Cowboys and attended Fort Valley State University. The public is invited.
