Ben Franklin opens new Burnet store under Reid ownership
The Ben Franklin store in Burnet held a grand opening on March 17, 1975 marking a new location and ownership by Mr. and Mrs. Claude B. Reid who relocated from Corpus Christi after purchasing the business from Mrs. Melissa Yarborough. The 9,600 square foot facility on Highway 281 South features a large parking lot, expanded departments including electronics sewing pet supplies and a Stitch and Sew area. Burnet County records report three separate weekend crashes. Marble Falls residents Bobby Gene Vaughn and Jimmy K Frasier collided on Mormon Mill Road causing extensive damage and minor injuries with one citation. William Lawrence Sawyer of Fort Worth veered off Highway 29 near Burnet after apparent sleep, vehicle heavily damaged but no injuries. Robert J Manning of Burnet sustained heavy damage on Highway 29 eight miles west, ambulance transport to Brackenridge Hospital Austin. no citation issued.

The All-Sports Banquet is set for tomorrow night at Burnet High School starting at 7 00 p m. BHS athletes in all sports will be honored with a barbecue supper from Inman s Marble Falls and homemade pies by Booster Club members. Guest speaker is Coach Cotton Davidson former Baylor back coach. An oil painting by Laura Howell will be auctioned with starting bids at 50. Tickets cost 3 00 at the door.
