Burnet School Board renews teachers contracts

The Burnet Consolidated Independent School District board met March 17 1975 renewing contracts for 84 teachers at Bertram Burnet and Burnet campuses. James Taylor resigns effective year end. Eight coaches receive 200 dollar raises. two board members dissent. Voting box addition debated with legal advertising time, absentee voting allowed, next meeting set to canvas April 5 election._ATTENTION: multiple items on taxation attendance drainage enterprise and property sales discussed.

Sunrise Service at Lakeland Hills Easter 1975

The Easter sunrise service themed He is risen will convene March 30 at 7 00 a m at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park Longhorn Cavern Road Burnet. Local clergymen including Rev L C Buddy Johnston Rev Bert Bronaugh Dr John Barclay Bill Dordell will speak and choir music will be provided by First United Methodist Church. Burnet County residents are urged to attend and arrange transport via local pastors or the Presbyterian Church 756 4366.

Fair & Rodeo Barbecue Saturday Night in Burnet County

The Burnet County Fair and Rodeo Association hosts a barbecue at the fair barn on Saturday March 22 at 7 30 pm. A barbecue supper is served and Marble Falls filmmakers show a wildlife film. Members pay 5.00 and gain supper and voting rights for new directors. Four-H members aid in the membership drive with top sellers to be recognized with cash prizes at the annual meeting.

Ben Franklin opens new Burnet store under Reid ownership

The Ben Franklin store in Burnet held a grand opening on March 17, 1975 marking a new location and ownership by Mr. and Mrs. Claude B. Reid who relocated from Corpus Christi after purchasing the business from Mrs. Melissa Yarborough. The 9,600 square foot facility on Highway 281 South features a large parking lot, expanded departments including electronics sewing pet supplies and a Stitch and Sew area. Sam Reid named manager. interior by Wayne Cobb. most merchandise sourced from Dallas warehouse City Products.

Highland Lakes Bluebonnet Trail Opens April 5 6

Highland Lakes in Central Texas hosts the Bluebonnet Trail April 5 6 and 12 13 with 240 miles of roadway showcases. Weekend Vehicle Crashes Cause Wide Damage in Burnet County

Burnet County records report three separate weekend crashes. Marble Falls residents Bobby Gene Vaughn and Jimmy K Frasier collided on Mormon Mill Road causing extensive damage and minor injuries with one citation. William Lawrence Sawyer of Fort Worth veered off Highway 29 near Burnet after apparent sleep, vehicle heavily damaged but no injuries. Robert J Manning of Burnet sustained heavy damage on Highway 29 eight miles west, ambulance transport to Brackenridge Hospital Austin. no citation issued.

District 24AA One-Act Play Contest Tonight at Bryce Taylor Auditorium

District 24AA presents five one act plays on Thursday at Bryce Taylor Auditorium starting 5:00 pm. Admission is 1.00 for adults and 0.50 for students, proceeds fund judges and literary contests. The two top shows advance to the area contest at Southwest Texas State University on April 12.

All-Sports Banquet Honors Burnet Students

The All-Sports Banquet is set for tomorrow night at Burnet High School starting at 7 00 p m. BHS athletes in all sports will be honored with a barbecue supper from Inman s Marble Falls and homemade pies by Booster Club members. Guest speaker is Coach Cotton Davidson former Baylor back coach. An oil painting by Laura Howell will be auctioned with starting bids at 50. Tickets cost 3 00 at the door.

Absentee Voting Underway in City and County Elections

Absentee voting for city and county elections runs March 17 to April 1 excluding weekends and holidays. Voting sites include Burnet City Hall, Burnet CISD offices, Burnet County School Board sites, Bertram American Legion Hall, Marble Falls ISD locations, Spicewood Community Center, Granite Shoals Fire Station, and S H Taylor Hardware in Bertram with 8 am to 5 pm hours and some 9 am to 5 pm windows.

Industrial Dinner Planned For April 7

Burnet chamber of commerce announces an April 7 7 30 p m recognition dinner at the Highlander Inn for Texas Industrial Week. Tickets are five dollars each. The event honors local industry and promotes Burnet as a site for industry with committee members and ex officio officers listed.
