Burnet City Council OKs TV rate hike and fiscal year change

The Burnet City Council approved an ordinance to raise TV Cable from 6.50 to 7.00 dollars per month and to change the fiscal year from March 31 to July 1. The council also extended appointed terms to June 30 and discussed HUD and USDA loan actions for utilities.

Armored Band To Give Concert By Texas National Guard

The 49th Armored Division Band of the Texas Army National Guard will perform a ninety minute concert at Bryce Taylor Auditorium on March 21 at 2 00 pm. The program features American heritage military music and supports the Texas wing museum at Ft Benning and the Intermediate School Band.

Burnet County Fair and Rodeo Assoc Annual Meeting

The Burnet County Fair and Rodeo Association holds its annual meeting Saturday March 22 at 7 30 pm in the county fair barn on Highway 281 south of Burnet. A barbecue supper is served and new directors are elected. Members pay 5 per person and 4 H members assist with the drive. the top three sellers win cash prizes.

Eight contested races on Burnet County ballots in April election

The April 5 Burnet County elections feature eight contested races across school board and city offices. Burnet CISD places 2 4 and 6 on the ballot with several candidates. Barnet mayor and city council races include unopposed and contested seats. Marble Falls and Bertram also have multiple contests. County wide, cigarette tax receipts rose to 18.3 million for February 1974.

Armadillo Round-Up Saturday in Burnet with Snake Display

The seventh annual Snake and Armadillo Round-up is set for Saturday March 15 in Burnet. Events include prize armadillos and snakes, a Town Club dance with Sundance band, and Buck Asher and Coach Ray Frady organizing activities. Armadillos and snakes can be brought to the Country Store on the square from February 27 to March 15 with a $1 reward per creature.

Street Repair Problems Topic at Commissioners Meeting

Burnet County Commissioners heard street repair concerns from Gordon Knight and William A. Stephens of the S C S Subdivision near Granite Shoals. The 21 homes on about a mile of paved streets developed in 1964 lack assessments to force repairs, and the subdivision does not meet county standards or occupancy requirements for inclusion in the county road maintenance system.

Burnet Elementary School presents its annual spring festival on March 13 at 7 30 p m in the high school gymnasium. Gate City native and former Baylor star Cotton Davidson will speak at Burnet High School's All-Sports Banquet on March 21. Davidson, coach and former NFL and CFL standout, helped Baylor's offense and mentored Neal Jeffrey. Booster Club offers a meal and tickets at 3.00 each.
